Mixed (conductive and sensory) hearing loss
This occurs when the outer and middle ear is affected and the minute hair cells are destroyed. This is a critical case and cannot be cured fully.
Neural Hearing Impairment
Neural hearing loss occurs when there is a complication with the connection from the inner ear to the brain. Neural means relating to a nerve or the nervous system, neural hearing loss means the nerve that transmits the impulses from the cochlea to the brain is mangled.
In recent years, major advances have made it possible to determine the root cause of hearing loss in nearly all cases, and to deal with the condition in many cases.
